Definition of Tip Wear

  1. Pretty much what it says on the tin, tip wear is the wearing away of your polish at the tip of your nail. Generally speaking, the better a polish’s formula, the less tip wear one should expect, but it’s somewhat inevitable for it to occur, at least to some extent, after several days. A good top coat applied across the front edge as well as on top of the nail can greatly minimize this, along with wrapping your polish (described below). When the nail polish rubs off of the tips of your nails from every day wear and tear.
