Definition of Specific Gravity

  1. Info contained in the physical data section of the MSDS. Water =1. If specific gravity of a substance is greater than 1, then it will sink in water. If less than one, then it will float on water. See also “Vapor Density”, which is a similar measurement in relation to air.
