Definition of Dibutyl Phthalate (DBP)

  1. Dibutyl phthalate (DBP) is a common nail polish ingredient used as a plasticizer (allowing it to be flexible on nails and not crack); also used in children’s toys, shower curtains, and food wraps; the U.S. has no laws prohibiting its use in nail polish.
