Definition of Acetone

  1. A solvent that is generally used to break down nail polish and acrylics. It acts as the primary ingredient in most Nail Polish Removers. Acetone is also a part of the Ketone family. Most Non-acetone polish removers are made from Ethyl Acetate or MEK – Methyl Ethyl Ketone, also a member of the ketone family. Acetone alone is known to make skin dry, so most Nail Polish Removers include ingredients that provide moisture, such as Cetyl Acetate or Glycerin.
